Aubree Felderhoff: There's so much information on the web and so much of it is wrong. And I had to learn how to weed through all of the wrong in order to find my healing path. chronic illness can feel unbeatable. And I want you to know it's 100 % beatable. You can heal. Your body is meant to be restored. it just takes getting on the right path to healing.

Aubree: Welcome back We are on the very last episode of our four week series on mold illness, where I have been telling you guys all about my mold journey with my family, not just once, but twice, and sharing with you what we have done to heal. And today is the final episode where we are really discussing some of the more specific things that I used at the end of my healing journey to really move the needle. I had healed a majority of the way with the first and non-negotiable top three things that I discussed with you guys last week today we are going to discuss some of the most confusing information that you probably see scattered all across the internet. How to eat, how to handle toxins, do I need a binder, do I need medication, what about the water, what supplements are good? There's so much information and I can tell you firsthand, it can be incredibly overwhelming. to see all of these different pieces of advice and different perspectives and have no idea what to do. I ended up so often just in this free state of I'm so overwhelmed and I don't even know where to start to help myself. So my hope and prayer with this episode is that you walk away feeling peace and confident in knowing your next step if you are on this mold journey. Are y'all ready to get into it? Let's go. So after the first three things that I recommended last week in our episode, the non-negotiables are taken care of. You've surrendered to God. You've done the work to retrain your brain and calm your limbic system and your nervous system down. And you found clean air. What if you find yourself in that situation where you've done all of these things and I was one of those people and yet you're still not completely well? You're definitely better, but you're still struggling. What do you do next? the next thing that you want to focus on is...

Aubree: to make sure that you are cleaning up your toxin load in the form of food and water and products that you put on your body or products that you clean your house with. Clean that up as much as possible. I think we all by this point have a basic understanding of what healthy eating versus unhealthy eating looks like. And we can dive into that deeper on a different episode. But for the most part, start working on your diet. Get the junk out, get the sugar out, the inflammatory grains. Gluten is one of the most inflammatory grains on the planet. Get it out of your diet. Get out the processed food. Start eating fruits and vegetables. Start eating real food. That alone, when I first did that, and when I cut out all of the junk and the soy, and I did a pretty intensive elimination diet at the beginning of my bowl journey, and it made a tremendous difference. I wouldn't say that everyone has to do that, especially if you're not dealing with the leaky gut and all of the gut issues that I was dealing with. but it certainly helps to pull inflammation out of your body and eat whole healing foods. And so we'll do an episode on that in the future, but I would say for now, start to focus on that. Start to focus on your water. If your water like ours tastes like chlorine from a pool, get a filter. You don't have to get the whole home filter to start off with, know, especially if you're on this mole journey and you're dealing with all the finances, but do something small to start filtering out all of the junk and the fluoride and the chlorine and all the things. that should not be in our body. And if we're drinking 64 ounces, which who knows if we are, but if we are drinking 64 plus ounces of that in our body, can you imagine just how many toxins you're getting from water that's supposed to be healthy? How many toxins you're getting just from food? If you are trying to heal, it's so vital, guys, that you start to eliminate toxins where you can. You're not powerless. Sometimes it feels like that. I felt like that. But I can tell you as I look back at the journey, there are so many things that I did to help myself heal. To where this time around, healing has happened real fast. So I would definitely recommend looking at the diet, looking at the water, looking at the products you're using just on your body, the lotions and the shampoo and the cleaners in your home. For a long time, I avoided switching our cleaner because there were so many natural products or healthier products out on the market and it felt overwhelming. It seemed expensive. There was something for every single category and I thought there's no way I'm gonna do all of this. And my amazing cousin told me about a brand which I absolutely love called Branch Basics if you've never heard of it and it is incredibly clean. It's so clean that your kids could drink it. and be okay. I use it to clean my chickens. TMI, but my chickens sometimes get this poopy butt looking thing and so I have to clean them. I use it to wash their poopy butts. I give my dogs baths with this. I use it for laundry detergent. I use it for every single cleaner in our house and my kids can help us clean because there's zero toxins in this thing. It is amazing. I buy one concentrate and use it for every single cleaning product. In fact, I'll link it just so y'all can find it. I don't make any money from them, but I will link their site for you guys because it's amazing But start to look into that. How can I switch out all of the toxins that are just everyday toxins? There's so many toxins in the environment that we live in, aside from old, that we can start to do little things to begin to empty out that toxin bucket. thing that you want to really start focusing on when you're working on healing is opening up your detox pathways. And something that I missed the mark on in the beginning of my journey was I knew I had all these toxins in my body. And really messed myself up guys because I started cramming all of these supplements like NAC and glutathione that you read about on the internet, you you kind of look at Dr. Google and you're like, what can I take to start helping me detox? And what I didn't consider was my detox pathways. my body started to release toxins, but I was clogged up. My body was clogged. It was obviously clogged because I had been in mold for so long and I hadn't considered that. And so as I was doing all of these things that I read about that inherently they can be really good, especially for the healthy person. But if you're a sick person or you've been in a toxic suit for a while, you want to be really careful because I made myself very ill. I got so much worse and I didn't understand it. And it was because I had released so many of these toxins and my body could not detox them fast enough. And so they became reabsorbed into my system, causing a whole nother slew of Symptoms and so I want to make sure that I put out there when you are working on opening up your detox pathways You want to consider your body from the bottom up, right? because if I start to detox at the top and My body is closed up at the bottom if you catch my drift My body cannot actually exit any of this toxin material So let's just be real upfront if you're not pooping every day start there You need to be going to the bathroom every day, at least once a day, ideally more. So start to unclog that area and then move up from there. Look at supporting your liver and your kidneys. Look into lymphatic massages. Now, I do lymphatic massages on my own. You can definitely go to a professional, but if you look at different videos online, and I can link some at the bottom of this episode, there's quite a few free resources that I've used that I spend 10 minutes a day just moving my lymph because the lymph nodes, I don't know if you know this, I did not until I researched it, but the lymph nodes actually don't have a pump. It's not like the heart that's pumping blood through the body. the lymph nodes sometimes need extra help. Now that can be in the form of walking or exercise, right, as you're kind of gentle moving up and down, that's pumping the lymphatic flow in your body. But sometimes when you're at your sickest like I was, I was barely able to stand. I was laying in a fetal position for the majority of the day for many months. And so if you're there, you're gonna need some extra help. Or maybe you're not there, but maybe it's really painful to walk. Or maybe you're just so clogged, you wanna make sure that you're doing everything possible to begin to move that lymphatic flow. So I'll link some of the videos that I use to just do a quick 10 minute routine in the morning to begin to move the lymph. And then along with that, along with this lymphatic massage, you wanna be doing gentle movement as much as possible. I think I told you guys on the first or the second of this. series the first or the second episode of this series that I had gotten to a point where I Was struggling to even walk it was so incredibly draining and yet I forced myself to do five minutes at a time every day until I got to a mile or two I would get on I would walk a few steps and then I would kind of bend over and rest because I was so weak I was so hurt everything hurt. I was so dizzy I had so many things going on, but I knew how important it was to move. And so with every fiber of your being, if you are able to, at least if you're not able to exercise beyond walking, at least get out and walking. There's so much good just in walking and letting your body move that blood flow and move that lymph and being outside in the sunshine. There's so much healing just in that. is a great form of detox as we all know so if you can exercise to the point we're sweating a little bit more or better yet if you have a sauna We just got a sauna in our house actually right before we had to move out It was a very late birthday present for my husband, But I have been using that almost every day to expedite my detox. So that's a great thing to look into. Now the next thing that I wanna talk to you guys about that I have learned so much about on this journey is supplementation. And if you've been on this journey, if you've been on any sort of illness, chronic illness, mystery symptom journey, you know what I'm talking about when you say the information. The information is endless on supplements. Everybody has a different opinion. It's kind of like raising our kids. Everyone has a different opinion on sleep schedules and on sports and on academics and there's just an opinion for every single person out there it feels like and the same can be true of supplements and I really Went the gamut on supplements when it came to my mold illness. I mean I have done thousands upon thousands upon thousands of supplements because I was desperate for healing and I was not getting it. I was not getting it with what the doctors had told me would heal me. And so I went across the board, just down all of the rabbit holes, searching for these supplements and which one does what. And you know what happens when you have so many things in your system is that they can start to alter and affect your body chemistry. for a long time I was extremely anemic and so I started taking a beef liver supplement that was helping me to raise my iron stores. But as result, I had to look at my zinc and my copper because then if you're taking a massive amount of something, it's going to alter a different area, right? The body is made to be in balance and it all works together. And so it really became, expensive, B, so overwhelming. I probably had. 50 to 60 pills that I was taking a day that were just these supplements and it wasn't getting better and we were spending so much money. supplements are going to depend on your genetic makeup and what specifically is going on with you and all of your underlying Conditions and so like I said, I'm not a medical Practitioner I cannot tell you what you specifically need but I can tell you that I found a set of supplements for people who are going through chronic illness and the supplements are extremely clean because that's a whole nother thing guys, with supplements, they don't have to be FDA regulated. so when you're taking a supplement, you often have no idea if you're actually taking any of that supplement. There can be so many other things in it, and it's really important that you find very pure sources that have been third-party tested. That means that there is another testing facility that they use that has no link or tie to them, so there's no bias on if these supplements are good, because it doesn't affect that other laboratory. if these supplements have what they say they have in them. But it's important to have supplements that are clean, that are third-party tested, that you can trust that you're getting exactly what it says. And so these particular supplements that I have found, have a really simplified, My supplement routine I stopped doing all of the other supplements B. They saved us a tremendous amount of money because it's only these few supplements that I take C. I have had no reactions and I to be honest have my kids on these as well and they have had no reactions which is a great sign for us and D. They're working. I can actually feel a difference on them which I can't really say for the probably close to thousands now of supplements that I've done in the past You you kind of think, this really working? I can't really tell. And then maybe you stop taking it. You don't feel a difference. These are working. I can tell a massive difference. So I would highly recommend looking into supplements. And I will link them at the bottom for you The last thing that I want to talk to you guys about today on this episode is medication versus binders. Now I've done both for mold I've done it all actually on this journey. I've done binders of many different types based on many different protocols. I've done the natural root where I've done herbs and supplemental support, homeopathic, and now I'm doing a medication. And I can tell you through all of my different roots, that I have not fully healed. I have never fully healed. And this is the first time that I'm actually doing a pharmaceutical and I feel better than I have felt in 12 years. I am only two months down this journey and most likely I will be on this particular pharmaceutical for about six months. So I'm not even to the halfway mark. But I'm starting to question if my old personality was even my personality because I just feel so good and it has been so long since I have had this feeling of calmness, this feeling of stability, peace, energy. my gosh, you guys. Energy was a currency I would love to have stolen. And I know you know what I'm talking about if you're going their chronic illness energy is usually one of the first things that leaves and it is so hard to Get energy especially with mold When your entire body every single cell in your body is dysfunctional and burdened by toxins so this energy that I have had It's part of the reason I've been able to record these episodes for you guys after my my quietness and my darkness on the podcast world because I had this energy again, I had this zest for life again. And so I know that medication prescriptions is not where everyone wants to start. It's not even what everyone believes they need. And I believe that too, because I have known people that have healed from mold without taking a prescription. But I can tell you for me personally, I did not get well. And I can't fully say that I'm recovered, but I'm pretty darn certain that I am getting there because this feels different than anything I've ever felt.

Aubree: that wraps up our mold illness series. There's so much information on the web and so much of it is wrong. And I had to learn how to weed through all of the wrong in order to find my healing path. So my prayer is that I am able to save even one person, some of the misery, suffering, time, money, confusion, pain that myself and my family has gone through on this journey. And if that is the case, then it is all worth it. So of course, if you have any questions about anything, I would love to help you reach out to me and I will do my best to help you figure out what to do if you're in a situation that feels in over your head. chronic illness can feel unbeatable. And I want you to know it's 100 % beatable. You can heal. Your body is meant to be restored. it just takes getting on the right path to healing. All right, until next time, go win your day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I still have mold in my body from years ago?

If you've addressed the main issues like finding clean air and calming your nervous system but you're still struggling with symptoms, you might still be dealing with stored toxins. I was in this exact situation where I was definitely better but still not completely well after doing the foundational work. Your body can hold onto mycotoxins for years, especially if your detox pathways aren't working properly.

What's the first thing I should change in my diet for mold illness?

Start by getting the junk out, especially sugar, inflammatory grains, and gluten, which is one of the most inflammatory grains on the planet. Cut out processed foods and start eating real whole foods like fruits and vegetables. When I first did an intensive elimination diet at the beginning of my mold journey, it made a tremendous difference by pulling inflammation out of my body.

Do I need expensive water filters to heal from mold exposure?

You don't have to start with a whole home filter system, especially if you're dealing with the financial burden of mold illness. Do something small to start filtering out chlorine, fluoride, and other toxins from your water. If your water tastes like pool water from chlorine like ours did, even a basic filter can make a difference when you're drinking 64 plus ounces daily.

What happens if I take detox supplements without opening my detox pathways first?

I made this exact mistake and made myself very ill by taking supplements like NAC and glutathione before considering my detox pathways. My body started releasing toxins but couldn't eliminate them fast enough because I was clogged up, so they got reabsorbed and caused a whole new set of symptoms. You need to work from the bottom up, making sure you're having daily bowel movements before adding detox supplements.

How can I do lymphatic drainage at home without paying for professional massages?

I do lymphatic massages on myself using free video resources online, spending just 10 minutes a day moving my lymph. The lymph nodes don't have a pump like the heart does, so they need extra help, especially when you're sick and can barely move. I'll link some of the videos I use for a quick morning routine that helps move lymphatic flow.

Is it worth taking tons of supplements for mold illness recovery?

I went down this rabbit hole and was taking 50 to 60 pills a day, spending thousands of dollars without getting better. Taking too many supplements can alter your body chemistry and create imbalances, plus most aren't FDA regulated so you don't know what you're actually getting. I've now simplified to just a few clean, third-party tested supplements that I can actually feel working.

Should I try natural treatments or medications for mold illness?

I've tried everything over 12 years including binders, herbs, supplements, and homeopathics, but never fully healed until trying a pharmaceutical approach. I'm only two months into a six-month medication protocol and feel better than I have in 12 years with energy, calmness, and stability I haven't experienced in so long. While some people heal without prescriptions, this is what finally worked for me.

How much exercise should I do when I'm really sick from mold exposure?

Start with whatever you can manage, even if it's just five minutes at a time like I did when I could barely walk. I would walk a few steps, bend over to rest because I was so weak and dizzy, but forced myself to do it daily until I could build up to a mile or two. Walking helps move blood flow and lymph, plus being outside in sunshine provides healing benefits even when you can't do more intense exercise.

Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner | Mold Recovery Concierge | Certified Primal Health Coach | Master Personal Trainer

Aubree spent 12 years and more than $250,000 searching for answers to a mystery chronic illness that 30-plus doctors couldn't solve. The first culprit was a mycotoxin-overloaded home that triggered a cascade of symptoms nobody could trace back to the source. After finally identifying the connection, remediating, and rebuilding her health, she faced a second exposure years later when water damage in her next home brought the symptoms flooding back.

That second experience is what shaped everything. She found a physician who understood antifungal treatment, completed neuroplasticity training, and fully recovered. Having navigated mold illness twice, from two different sources, she understands both how it starts and how it ends.

Aubree is a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP), a Certified Primal Health Coach, NASM Certified Trainer, and Cooper Clinic Certified. Before mold illness defined her life, she spent 14 years in elite fitness as a national champion collegiate gymnast. She brings that same discipline and evidence-based approach to mold recovery, helping families get clear answers faster, without the decade of wrong turns she endured.
